Stratford-upon-Avon

We left the dorms at 5:45am and ventured 2.5 hours outside of the city to reach the quaint hometown of William Shakespeare--not sure if you've heard of him, not a very well known writer. When we reached the town most of the cafés and shops were not quite open. With groggy eyes and feet dragging beneath us, we eventually found a small café that was open. The poor shop owner was working alone, but still kindly filled all of the orders from our group.

With post-coffee energy we hit up 2 of the 5 bookshops in the town and found ourselves in a wonderful cat café for the afternoon. The cats were appropriately named from a variety of Shakespeare's works.

(Slide for cute kitty pictures!)

To finish our day we were able to watch a show in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company. The show we saw was As You Like It. It was an entertaining play performed by very talented actors and actresses on a very unique stage that sat the audience in a semi circle mostly above the stage.

A very busy day that began at 5am while adjusting to the time difference from New York to London I found myself asleep before I hit my pillow upon our return to the city.

To quote Shakespeare to wrap up this day, "And sleep, that sometime shuts up sorrow's eye, Steal me awhile from mine own company." Don't mind if I do, William, don't mind if I do.
